My
homage to Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma
Gandhi was a leader, he led people by truth. He practiced what
he preached. He was a true democratic leader in the real sense.
He got independence for India by following the policy of Ahimsa.
He believed that fire cannot be put off by fire. You cannot fight
force with force. To extinguish fire, you require water. Ahimsa
is the water for the fire called terrorism.
He
got independence not only for India but also for a lot of other
African countries without war, which the world should now realize
as a great victory for Ahimsa.
Today
in my own country India, the principles of Mahatma Gandhi have
been forgotten. We are just paying lip service to the principles
of Mahatma Gandhi by trying to get the Nobel Prize for peace that
was never given to Mahatma Gandhi. I think it is better we don't
try for this but try and follow his policies. The British had
a policy of divide and rule. Today the Indian politicians follow
the same policy of divide and rule with the help of the media.
When India has been declared as a secular state then no religion,
caste should be inquired or mentioned. Everyone should be treated
as an Indian not Munnar, Gujjar, Hindu, Muslim, etc.
Swadeshi
movement has been forgotten and Government has allowed the opening
of malls in the name of development. I think the Government has
forgotten that the East India Company from England came to do
business and trade with India, and they ruled India for 150 years.
The same thing will happen again, this time our rich people will
control the common man. The cost of living will go up and up which
has started happening already. The cost of land has gone up by
about 300-400% during last 2-3 years.
Why
has the Government allowed this? Land is not manufactured, so
why should the prices go up? This is because of monopoly of builders.
All small and medium level builders have stopped doing business
and only the rich people have monopolized the building line. This
is the main reason for the cost of living to go up. Now the same
thing will happen with the opening of malls and sabzi mandis.
The govt says that opening up malls and sabzi mandai will increase
the employment. But what about the unemployment they will create?
All shop keepers will become unemployed. All small sabzi sellers
will also become unemployed.
The
cost of food items and clothes has also gone up and will go up
further.
Mahatma
Gandhi must really be crying in his Samadhi at Rajghat and feeling
sorry for the common people of India saying to himself what Mr.
Churchill said that the leaders of India will fight among themselves
and again divide the country into different countries and this
has come true.
Indians
themselves are doing what the British could not do. This case
is not only true for India but is prevailing all over the world.
Does any leader think about humanity, freedom, and cost of living?
To me the answer is NO. All the leaders should stop speaking about
the country and only talk about humanity. The nuclear bomb in
not the future bomb, the future bomb will be in the form of environmental
changes, ozone layer and global warming. The smoke from factories,
cars and airplanes has brought a lot of climatic changes and what
we call development today may become a big tragedy tomorrow. Instead
of using funds for protection, we should use them for welfare
of the people. Climatic bomb is more dangerous than nuclear bomb,
let us remember that.
Common
man is nobody (no body) but spirits or thoughts. Their thoughts
are wandering in the brahmand and somebody caught them and called
it democracy. But in India already we had better concept of democracy
called 'Ramrajya'. Bringing Ramrajya in the world was what Mahatma
Gandhi wanted for the world. Ramrajya has been described by a
poet Narsi Mehta in a poem which was sung by Mahatma Gandhi as
"Vaishnav
Jana tene kahiye peer parayee jane re." Which means Ramrajya can
only be brought if the people, who rule, realize the pains of
common people.
